The Music

They don't do them like that anymore.

There are still some things that are timeless and classic Christmas music is one of them.  The hip tunes of Andy Williams, the songs of Burl Ives, and even the Chipmunks sends me back to the days of being a kid.  You can not think of some artist without thinking of their classic Christmas tunes such as Bing Crosby's White Christmas and Nat King Coles The Christmas Song.  There was just something about the way these guys did it.  Percy Faith could put together an orchestra that would make your eyes water and Rosemary Clooney could really make you count your blessings.

I think the thing I liked most about these classics is that they were enjoyed at such an exciting time of the year.  Christmas means anticipation and hope.  As a child we anticipated the things that we requested on our Christmas list and we hoped to get some of those things.  As an adult I listen to these same songs and...if you really listen to the words, you can truly understand the hope that we have because of this season.  It brings me great joy and anticipation to know that this babe in a manger can save me and wants to spend eternity with me.
